Watch out DC. We are here….

Day #8, post #9 #350blogging

Its July and its hot. Our second, but officially our first full day, in DC found us at Arlington Ceremtery. My younger sister had given us a great piece of advice; “Pay for the bus tour at the beginning. Then you don’t have to worry about walking all over.” So our first order of business was to buy a ticket to the tram. It was the best advice ALL. Day. Long. We got to ride to the main three points of interest. JFK’s eternal flame site, the Tomb of the Unknown and the Lee House. All in all it was a great day AND bonus: we didn’t get lost on the Metro.

Since my other sister had taken a train from NY to meet us, we decided to do some sightseeing. We took the night bus tour. It was amazing. While you truly can not see all the great sites in just 3 hours, We were able to see some of the greatest night time sights. The monuments were amazing. The kids were so excited to see everything lit up and also excited to ride on a topless double decker bus LOL. My mom was a little worried about traveling the metro from Union Station back to Dupon Circle so late at night, however, that was the most crowded I saw the metro all day. Some people just getting off of work, some going out for the evening and some just getting home. It was calm and relaxing! It was another great day in DC.

Girls Trip

Day #7, post #8 #350blogging

Day 7 found us in the car. For 14 hours. Why you ask? We decided to take a “Girls” Trip to our Nations Capital, Washington D.C. We left Longwood, FL around 5:45 AM. With 5 girls in the car, we hardly made it out of the state before stopping for our first bathroom break.  But we made it to DC around 8pm.

We stayed in Dupont Circle, a quant little city right out of downtown. It was tricky working the Metro system but we soon became pros. Our first day in, we walked around a found a great little Italian Kitchen that had pizza (for the kids) and GREAT Margaritas (for my mom and I). It was a long day but we are excited to start sightseeing!

Scratch vs (a Fire breathing) Dragon

Day #4, Post #5- #350Blogging

Look out world. M is reading a book about computer coding. At this point in time, she has already created a game involving Scratch the cat and a fire breathing dragon.  For this kid it only takes a book to learn a new trade. Let’s just say that I bought her the book knowing what she was capable of.

My plan to take over the world is finally coming together…..mwahahahaha.

LOL Not what you are thinking.

Its…. Thank God For Uniforms

10338763_10204292893511041_8530038239641231695_nHere is a prime example of why I am so thankful that my kids go to a school that requires uniforms. If I let my little fashionista “be free” this is what she would look like ALL. THE. TIME. If I didn’t let her “be free” we would be fighting ALL. THE. TIME.

So during the summer, she can “be free”. The other 180 days, she has to wear a uniform.

Thank. You. God.

Summer Camps

Day #2, Post #3- #350Blogging

Summer Camps. Heaven. For me and the girls.

10513261_10204304491280978_289454762254082162_nAt first I enrolled my kids in camp so that they wouldn’t be sitting around home all day or so we wouldn’t be out “keeping busy” and spending too much money. And in an effort to keep my sanity, I enrolled each girl into a different camp each week. So only one camp per week. Except VBS, we ALL went to camp LOL.

I have found it to be so much more than them spending all day playing soccer or singing “Let it Go” at Frozen Dance camp. It has been a time for me to bond with my girls individually. First M went to soccer camp, K and I went to breakfast one day, swam in the pool, took my grandma to Costco, got pedicures and manicures and spent numerous hours laughing and joking.

Now K is at dance camp. M and I went to lunch, browsed book stores, went shopping at the mall, planned a vacation, went to Mass and bonded like no other tween and her mom could do. I have so enjoyed my time individually with my girls and I know that they feel the same way. I don’t have much time with them alone and this summer has been a way for us to see how important we are in each others lives. The most amazing part of this summer, is all the memories we are making!
