Victoria and Albert’s Restaurant

Victoria-roomThis June my husband turned the BIG 4-0. I wanted to do something special for him, so back in January I started doing some research. I searched for every cool, romantic and special restaurant in the Orlando area. Finally I found what I was looking for. Good thing I was searching in January because you had to book your reservation at least  6 months (180 days) in advance! I went online and reserved the date of his birthday (which happened to be on a Saturday this year). They are so serious about this reservation they require a credit card number just to reserve your spot.

So finally on June 8th, we pulled up to the Grand Floridian at the Walt Disney World Resorts for our 5:30 reservation at Victoria and Albert’s. Of course, we got lost in the hotel, but we finally found the restaurant.  It was very cute, quiet and small. We were seated and introduced to two servers. We were given a personalized menu (which we were able to take home).  They explained the process and some of the menu items. It was a prix fixe menu, but we were allowed to select from a variety of each course. All in all we had 7 courses. We chose to do the wine pairing and were very happy with that. It allowed us to try a variety of different wines with all the tastes!

Some of the GREAT food we were able to try:

Roasted Duck with Mango Vinaigrette and Lavosh
Braised Oxtail and Cherry Ravioli with Roasted Red Peppers

Australian Kobe Style Beef Tenderloin with Smoked Garlic Potato Purée

Sottocenere Al Tartufo, Parmigiano Reggiano, Colston Bassett Stilton, Gouda Reypenaer XO

The best part was the AWESOME coffee brewing process. Guess that is something you will have to experience for yourself!

It was truly a special evening! I hope we can  enjoy this lovely restaurant again sometime in the future!

Another HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY to my husband, Tom Jelneck!
